ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor certifications now independently accredited under ISO/IEC 17024 by the ANSI National Accreditation Board — the first personnel certification scheme for this standard in the world to earn this recognition from a national accreditation body.
TRECCERT, an international professional certification body, announced that its ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor certification programmes have received accreditation from the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) under ISO/IEC 17024, the internationally recognised standard for bodies operating certification of persons.
This milestone makes TRECCERT the first certification body in the world to hold ANAB accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024 for a personnel certification scheme aligned with ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems.
STATEMENT – TRECCERT
“When we set out to build the ISO/IEC 42001 certification programme, we made a deliberate choice: we would not stop at developing rigorous content. We would pursue the highest possible standard of independent verification — because the professionals earning these credentials, and the organisations relying on them, deserve nothing less than that assurance.
ANAB accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024 is that assurance. It means that every aspect of how we design, assess, and award this certification has been independently examined and confirmed to meet the global benchmark for personnel certification bodies. That is not a marketing claim — it is a verified fact.
AI governance is one of the defining professional disciplines of our time. The organisations navigating this space — implementing frameworks, satisfying regulators, and earning the trust of the public — need people whose competence is not self-declared but independently proven. We built TRECCERT’s ISO/IEC 42001 certifications to be exactly that. Today, ANAB confirms it.”

Significance of the Accreditation
ISO/IEC 42001 was published by the International Organization for Standardization as the first international standard providing a framework for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS). As AI regulation accelerates globally — including through the EU AI Act — the demand for professionals who can implement and audit AI governance frameworks to this standard has grown substantially.
ANAB accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024 provides independent, third-party verification that TRECCERT’s certification programmes meet the highest international requirements for personnel certification bodies, including:
-
Competency-based assessment based on valid job and practice analysis.
-
Secure, valid, and reliable examination development and administration.
-
Impartial and transparent certification processes.
-
Ongoing surveillance and recertification requirements to ensure continued professional competence.
ANAB is a founding member and signatory of the Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI) — the unified international accreditation body that, as of January 2026, brings together the functions previously held by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) under a single global Multilateral Recognition Arrangement. This means TRECCERT’s accredited certifications carry uninterrupted global recognition across borders, industries, and regulatory environments.
The ANAB accreditation places TRECCERT’s ISO/IEC 42001 credentials alongside the most trusted independently verified professional certifications in the world — including programmes such as ISC2’s CISSP, ISACA’s CISM and CISA, and other globally recognised credentials that employers, regulators, and international organisations rely on to verify professional competence.
STATEMENT – ANAB
“ANAB congratulates TRECCERT on achieving this significant milestone. The accreditation of their ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor certification programs under ISO/IEC 17024 represents a meaningful advancement in the field of AI governance credentialing. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in organizational operations and subject to regulatory scrutiny worldwide, the need for independently verified personnel certifications in this domain has never been greater. TRECCERT’s commitment to meeting the rigorous requirements of ISO/IEC 17024 reflects the level of quality and integrity that ANAB accreditation is designed to identify and affirm, and the kind of leadership the AI governance profession needs right now.”
