GDPR Professional

Overview

GDPR Professional certification is a distinguished and globally recognized credential that highlights an individual's expertise in navigating the complex landscape of data protection and privacy. This certification is a testament to your proficiency in understanding and implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the comprehensive framework governing data privacy and security across the European Union.

By achieving the GDPR Professional certification, you showcase your ability to interpret and apply the principles of GDPR, ensuring compliance with its stringent requirements. This certification signifies your competence in addressing challenges related to data processing, privacy impact assessments, and ensuring the lawful and ethical handling of personal information.

This qualification empowers you to implement robust data protection practices within your organization, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding individuals' privacy rights. It's a reflection of your capacity to integrate GDPR compliance seamlessly into business processes, thereby fostering a culture of responsible data management.

Whether you are seeking to enhance your current role or explore new avenues in the realm of data protection, the GDPR Professional certification is a valuable asset that propels your career forward. It equips you with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the complexities of data protection, establishing you as a key player in ensuring the responsible and ethical use of personal information within your organization.

Prerequisites

To achieve the GDPR Professional certification, candidates must pass the exam with a minimum score of 60% and have at least 2* years of general work experience. Candidates with less than 2 years of experience may still qualify but will be awarded the GDPR Professional Provisional credential until they meet the experience requirement.

*Note: A Master's degree can waive 1 year of the required work experience.

Recertification

The GDPR Professional certification program has a three-year recertification cycle. To retain certification beyond this period, candidates are required to fulfill specific requirements, including the payment of either an annual maintenance fee (AMF) or a triennial maintenance fee (TMF).

Moreover, a total of 30 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits are required to be accrued over the three year recertification cycle, with 10 CPE credits recommended for each year. The CPE credits earned are required to be related to the subject matter area of the certificate you hold. For GDPR Professional, the CPE credits are required to be activities related to the following subject matter areas:

  1. Data Protection
  2. Information Security

These obligations ensure that certified professionals remain up-to-date and proficient in relevant areas, thereby maintaining the program's high standards of expertise and knowledge retention.
